When asked about a Confirmation retreat, one youth replied
“I would summarize this experience with the word “breakthrough’ because this
retreat really helped open my eyes to my opportunities and responsibilities as a child of God” -Plattsburgh, NY “Having
Beth Carlin at Sacred Heart this past year was a great opportunity for us to have a speaker with such passion for God. Her
enthusiasm to teach about God and to get the students involved was great. Keeping the attention of 9th
graders is hard, but Beth kept it alive by telling stories, stories of Jesus and stories of herself. Having Beth come in and
share her knowledge of God was a nice addition to our curriculum. I would recommend her to any organization looking for a
uplifting session of sharing God with your students of all ages." Joy Smolinski, Catechist for Sacred Heart Church, Troy NY St. Luke’s of Schenectady had the pleasure of having “Living Hope” present
an evening of Prayer to our seventh grade youth. “Beth kept the program moving thus being able to keep the attention
of our middle school youth” said Tom Drezelo, seventh grade catechist. “The timing was perfect, Beth showed a
lot of energy and was passionate with her ministry,” said Tom. “Seeds were planted.” Living Hope used multimedia thru songs, and utilized websites.
In addition, youth were grouped into pairs and took lines of the Lord’s Prayer and then gathered as a group to explain
what their line meant. It made the Lord’s Prayer relevant to their lives. The feedback from the youth was
that they were able to understand a variety of ways to pray and that all prayer is good. “The prayer exercises were
great concrete examples for the youth to understand the many ways to pray”, said Tom! St. Luke’s Roman Catholic of
Church looks forward to incorporating Living Hope into their program next year! For more feedback, feel free to
contact the St. Luke’s Faith Formation Office at 347-9955. Give your youth the gift of Living Hope’s presence.
I’m sure that your youth will benefit from their time and talent! |
